I love art, I always will, it's been a hobby of mine for many years. I've collected loads of books on the subject and purchased a multitude of materials to help me as an artist. I've always admired those artists that could master a medium, whether it was oil, watercolour etc... and produce a beautiful piece of work with little effort.

Like most artists, I studied art at school then college but ended up following a different career path. Up until a few years ago the majority of my work was in pencil and colour pencil. I love the colour pencil work produced by Alyona Nickelsen, Janie Gildow, Barbara Benedetti Newton and Bev Lewis, I'm a big fan!

However, it wasn't until I purchased a book called 'Painting Animals That Touch The Heart' by Lesley Harrison that changed everything for me. Lesley predominately works in pastels and the paintings are simply breath taking, with emotion and movement, a real talent to capture on paper.

Most of my drawings are now in pastel, I occasionally go back to colour pencil but my first choice will always be pastel. I find it ideal for the type of art work I want to produce.

It doesn't matter how frustrating art gets you are only limited by your imagination.
